Congratulations to both the 7th and 8th Grade Orchestras!!!!! Each orchestra received a Gold rating at the ISSMA State Orchestra contest on March 21. Performing 3 pieces per grade level, the students were judged on Intonation, Tone Quality, Rhythm, Correct Notes, Bowing, Dynamics, Balance and Blend and Presentation and Interpretation. It is an accomplishment to learn and perform the pieces and a bonus to receive a Gold Plaque!

Bonus Question: Qu'est-ce que vous aimez le plus d'être å l'Orchestre? (dix pointes) Email your answer to cimboden@msdwt.k12.in.us

8th Grade Orchestra:
We are in the final weeks of your time at Eastwood. Let's make the most of it. We will be performing Mantras, Jericho, Stairway to Heaven and Shenandoah on our Spring Concert in May. We will probably have at least one more playing test. Whatever is the most difficult spot for your section is probably what the playing test will be on. See if you can figure out where that is and focus your practicing there.

7th Grade Orchestra:
The last few weeks of 7th grade will focus on our Spring Concert music. We will be playing Creatures, Spiderman, Goin' to Boston and Shenandoah. We will also learn skills that we will need in the 8th grade and begin working on holiday pieces for upcoming concerts for next year. Work on vibrato and shifting during your home practicing. These are more advanced techniques that really add to the quality of your sound. We will probably have at least one more playing test. Whatever is the most difficult spot for your section is probably what the playing test will be on. See if you can figure out where that is and focus your practicing there. Bring your instrument every day and be ready make music.

6th Grade Orchestra:
The last few weeks of 6th grade will focus on pushing our way through more of Essential Elements, rhythms, shifting and.....wait for it......TUNING!!!! We will probably have at least one more playing test. Whatever is the most difficult spot for your section is probably what the playing test will be on. See if you can figure out where that is and focus your practicing there. Be sure to bring your instrument every day so you don't miss out on anything.
