Week of March 2, 2009

8th Grade Orchestra:
D Major Scale - two octaves Try different rhythms or a variety of bowings to make scale practice more interesting. How is your intonation, your tone quality and your posture?
You should be focusing on all the contest pieces - Presto, Mist, Momentum. Also spend some time reviewing Ode to Joy, Rosin Eating Zombies and James Bond

7th Grade Orchestra:
G Major Scale - two octaves Try different rhythms or a variety of bowings to make scale practice more interesting. How is your intonation, your tone quality and your posture?
You should be focusing on all the contest pieces - Elizabethan Madrigal, Mariposas Exoticas, Highland Celebration.

6th Grade Orchestra:
Students will need to purchase Essential Elements, book 2 to have in class by March 16. We will use this book for the rest of this school year and for at least the first semester of next year. Books can be purchased at Pepper Music off of 65th St. There are a few used books that can be purchased from Ms. Imboden

8th Grade Orchestra:
Playing test on Monday, Feb. 16. All excerpts are from Momentum and everyone will be playing 45-61.
Now that Music Fest is over, we will be focusing on ISSMA organizational contest on March 21. I will let you know what time we play as soon as I know.
Presto: 1-70.
Mist: 1-72.
Momentum: 1-117.
Rosin: 1-57.

7th Grade Orchestra:
Playing test on Monday, Feb. 16. All excerpts are from Highland Celebration:
1st violins: 17-32.
2nd violins: 25-45.

Music Fest is the only fund raising event for the Performing Arts Department. This year, Music Fest is Saturday, February 14, 10am-3pm. Below you will see the scheduled time that your class plays. If you are unable to perform at your scheduled time, you may play with a different orchestra class. Please wear jeans and any Eastwood shirt.
