Week of September 21, 2009

8th Grade Orchestra:
Practice G Major and C Major Scales - two octaves each. Change the rhythms each day. Change the bowings each day. Combine different bowings and rhythms.
This week we will spend lots of time in class reading the new pieces you got on Friday. Begin your own work on these pieces. Especially focus on Ode to Joy, James Bond, Trepak, Frosty and Dance of the Toy Flutes.
Continue work on Sinfonia and Variations.

7th Grade Orchestra:
Practice A Major and D Major Scales. Change the rhythms each day. Change the bowings each day. Combine different bowings and rhythms.
This week we will spend lots of time in class reading the new pieces you got on Friday.
Begin your own work on these pieces. Especially focus on Canon(violin), Riverboat Rag and Salty Sailor.
Continue work on Creepy Crawl and North Country Legend.

6th Grade Orchestra:
This week you will need to practice a total of 1 1/2 hours to receive an A in practicing.
Keep working on all our beginning tunes - especially Pepperoni Pizza and Grasshopper Grasshopper with the Twinkle theme. Keep drilling on your flashcards.
E.E. 18-32.
Give a concert for someone in your family. If they write a note to me about it, you will receive 10 extra credit points and the appreciative audience!
